I3-2100 intergrated graphics

Yes it does no problem. Just make sure your ram is suitable, I have found that some of the horrible OEM stuff does not really work well with my 1900 x 1200 monitor. But once I put in some branded product it was perfect.

I use the XBMC as well as the stock media player for Win7 for my MKV content.

XBMC is the real deal and worth exploring if you do not know it as yet.

Hi and thanks for the quick reply.

Probably going to have to be windows XP for the time being. When you say 'branded' memory, would you say that includes Kingston 'HYPER X'? - obviously budget stuff, but trying to keep the cost down and realistic matching for everything else.

It does look great but as far as I can tell it doesn't support recording from a Freeview HD tuner, does it?

check my profile, i did a build with the 2100 yesterday

when i watch a film at 1080p, it runs the processor at ~25% and with the stock cooler about 60 degrees

worth noting if your about to buy one of these with no graphics card that there is a 2105 version.

The differance would only really matter for gaming but the 2100 has HD2000 and the 2105 HD3000 but even so may be just worth the extra cost in an HTPC for instance.

Horrible OEM is stuff without any branding that I think my partner bought from some bloke beside the road at a traffic light. :D Kingston Hyper X are certainly not OEM and would not even call them budget.

Not sure what the difference in cost is between the 2100 and the 2105 but the 2100 does the job very well.

FreeView recording.

If you go to the XBMC forum you will see there are a huge number of plugins and threads showing how people record stuff using the application. Some folk even have XBMC as their shell. My self I just use it as a media manager and player - using the XBMC during playback of HD content uses less than 10% of my CPU. It is certainly worth spending time reading the how to guides for setting it up. Amazingly powerful - and actually very simple to use.
