building a £400 budget gaming pc build and thinking about getting a i3 3220 cpu, and using the built in graphics on that till i can afford a dedicated graphics card.

two questions.....

would the i3 be able to handle fairly low end games ( free to plays etc) on its own....

would getting a amd a10 5800k apu be a better idea, and then add the dedicated gpu in after...?

If I was going the Intel option it'd have to be the i5.
As it stands A10 against i3 3220, I'd pick the A10.

But that's a compromise, as you've got limited overall CPU performance, and isn't meant to be a performance platform, it's all about the IGP, which will run rings around the HD2500 in the i3 3220.

The HD4000 while not great will be okay for low end gaming, A10's still better.

But discrete GPU and i5 over A10 and discrete GPU any day for me.

Not exactly a great situation to be in.

Its a shame that AM3+ has hardly any 880G based motherboards with the SB850 southbridge,if not an FX6300 would be an option too although the IGP is poor by modern standards.

Yeah I know the i5 would be the better option, don't have the money for it though. I just want a decent quality resolution to play middle of the road games on, I won't be wanting to play Crysis and Far Cry on ultra or anything like that. I'll probably go for the A10 to be honest.
Thanks for the suggestions though

Seems like the A10 is up for alley. :)

Make sure you get some Super fast RAM with it, Trinity likes Fast RAM.

Give it an overclock too. :)
