i3-3220 upgrade

Looking to upgrade this CPU for gaming, would an i5-4690 be a good choice? Current GPU is a MSI HD 7850.

Depends if you want to change motherboard etc. A 3220 is an 1155 socket so you could go 3570 i5 or 3770 i7

Budget may help.

Upgrade to i7 3770 or 2600k. Buy an Ssd put rest towards g card i7 2600k are going for £120

a 2500k would be great £60-70 and overclock like a beast, while running super cool.

I'd go the members market and grab and 2500K or 3570K for about £70. Then spend the rest of a graphics card for a really good upgrade to your gaming performance.

A 3570K from the MM or even better a 2600/2700K/3770K would be your best bet without going mad on money.

You could squeeze a 4690 into your budget but you're talking single figure % increase over the 3570

Yeah, grab an i7 from the members market. Get a decent cooler. Overclock to around 4 - 4.4, sell your current card, buy something with more omph and enjoy your PC.
