Temps on Prime95 are 97C with fans on Max(Room temp 25C)

Heavens.

Those temps are crazy high.

What are you using to cool that? Temps that high will either kill the cpu or cause it to shut-down to save itself!

Thats very high temperature!

What cooler are you using, possibly re-seat with fresh paste.

I've got the stock cooler on at the moment. I think I will replace with the Scythe mugen 2 I have.

What are the MAX temps for the i3? I thought it was 105C?

In fact, having read some more posts...97C is really high!

The system is idling at 50C at the moment.

I will replace with the Mudgen 2 and post back the temps again in a few days....Will be interesting to see the difference....

Sorry to dig up an old thread.

I've replaced my stock cpu cooler and also my cpu.

The Mugden 2 without fan now has cpu at 38 on idle and 60 on full load....much better!

would be MUCH better even with a low rpm fan which will be almost silent.

Cant get a fan round the thing!!!

RAM or GPU in the way.....

I can get a fan on the top by the two exhaust 120mm and pull out the air away from the cpu heatsink..

Shows a bit clearer in this pic.

I can feel another slight mod coming on to get the fan to sit by the ram.

I've already had to fit the 3.5" cage into the 5.25" bay so the new 180mm Silverstone Air Penetrator could do some good..

What memory are you using?

I think the memory would need to in slots 2 & 4 away from the cpu and you probably need to cable tie the fan to the cooler so it sits as if was on top of the ram.

I would say cable tie the fan to the cooler, I did this on my TRUE with Patriot Viper memory.

Mounted the 120mm fan to the heatsink with cable ties. Now my temps are:

36 Idle / 52 Load.

Great result....Let the overclocking begin.....
