Decided to retire my Q6600 (G0, 1.1v VID) because i wanted to play with something new.

Ended up with an i3 550 on a Maximus III Gene with some Corsair Dominator GT 12800 C7.
Never played with an i3/5/7 or DDR3 RAM so finding my feet at the mo, but seem to be getting some nice overclocks (i think)

Got it running @ 4.2GHz nicely the other night, all nice & stable under Prime.

Subsequently got it stable @ 4.4GHz but temps are getting to 70c under load!
Is the first time i had fitted the Hydro H70 & there was a fair bit of faffing about involved so may have to re-seat & re-paste it!

It will boot into windows at 4.75GHz but not stable under load... yet :)

Didn't seem to be much in the way of recent posts, anyone else ramping i3's & how's it going?

i wouldnt go much over 1.375 for every day use.

the 32nm graveyard is growing by the day...

hehe thanks for the advice rjkoneill.
That was with the vCore set to Auto, looks like i'll have to keep a keen eye on what this boards doing with it's auto voltages, i did notice the vDimm was looking a tad high too :)

Where did you get the new K0 stepping from? I bought one of those CPU's day before yesterday and it was the old stepping still.

Nice clocking there mate.

Ordered it last week from another supplier, they had the mobo i wanted in stock so i got it all from the same place.

I though all the i3 550's were K0 (due to later release date) & it was the 530's had various steppings?!? not 100% though.

thats right as far as i am aware.

i havent seen any 530 k0 yet though as we have a lot of this cpu in at work

they are the most popular so it figures..
