People, which GPU would you suggest buying to marry with the 3-6100? Budget £150 max. To run all modern games, ok, not at full / max settings!

Yeah it's well reported a especially at digital foundry.

It's a recurring theme we'll see elsewhere in this piece. Consistent Fallout 4 performance across the run of play relies heavily on the CPU and AMD's driver has a higher overhead, leading to frame-rate drops. For that reason, the GTX 750 Ti once again gets the nod.

The 950 will do alright and it's at a good price, but if you can find refurbished/used 280x/285 those will be even better for the price. The AMD cpu bottleneck isn't significant with an i3 6100 & only appears in SOME dx11 games (for dx12 - np at all). You won't go wrong with the 950 for the short term but for longer (>1 year), I'd shop around.

Emm,the AMD DX11 bottleneck, which is only really in some games, is more a single thread bottleneck, ironically, and the Core i3 chips are not that much slower in this regard than a Core i5.

I have a GTX960 myself and if the R9 380 is a similar price, I would get the R9 380.

Edit!!

Plus FO4 is an Nv sponsored game,so it runs better on Nvidia cards currently.

Crimson didn't change that, it's a more fundamental issue with dx11 and AMD. But really, it is vastly overstated, in reality the gpus will perform the same so it comes down to which brand you like more, or gsync vs freesync (and at this budget freesync wins by a landslide).

Just get the R9 380 - the only real advantage the GTX960 has if you have a SFF build like I have. You will be perfectly fine.

It's like with ARK,which is Nvidia sponsored and uses UE4. Tried an R9 280 and my GTX960 on a Xeon E3 1230 V3/Core i7 4770 and an FX6350. The GTX960 was slower on both rigs and there was not much difference between both cards on either CPU.

The Core i3 6100 will be fine with a R9 380. Only get a GTX960 if you play a game or runs much better with or are building a small rig.
