Hi everyone from Greece!
I am looking to replace my age-old PC in my medical office, which is currently contains a single core CPU, 1Gb of DDR1 Ram and Win XP. Yes, i know...
So, i am divided between i3 8100 or R3 2200G. I wil combine them with 4Gb DDR4, an SSD 120 Gb and Win 10. I do not intend to buy a graphic card since main use will be writing prescriptions, pdf opening, Word writing, watching cd-dvds with xrays/CTs/ MRIs and the occasional youtube video
Which one would you prefer?
Any other adjustments/corrections?
Many many thanks!

well the ryzen 3 2200g has built in graphics which will help with watching dvd's and x-rays and anything like that so it would prob be better for you

For those uses either would be perfectly fine. The only notable differences between the two are that the R3 has a far better integrated graphics chip and is £10 cheaper, so go for that.

I've been buying the HP Ryzen 3 2200G desktops at work recently. Fair bit cheaper than the HP i3 models and they are great for business use.

I know it's not being used for much, but I would go with at least 8GB RAM these days, preferably a 256GB (or 240GB) SSD as well, as with Windows 10's updating and other installed applications, 120GB fills up pretty quickly so there will be a lot more maintenance.

Either CPU should do the job just fine.

100% AMD, if you ever do decide to upgrade ( highly unlikey) you could always drop in an 8 core 2700 if the system no longer cuts it ! - and it's cheaper and has better graphics = no brainer.

Both CPU's are in the same league with the work you are planning to do but it's true that with Intel's ongoing security issues, it makes the 2200G seem like the better choice.
Like faceman123 said you will also be able to upgrade the CPU to a newer model in the future since AMD has promised all AM4 motherboards will be supported until 2020.
