Building a stock pc for some music production. Nothing flashy. Is it better to save a few quid and go for the 1155 socket or go for the 1156. Which one is better for small overclocking?

Is anyone else fed up with socket changes?

i think you have misunderstood

1156 - older generation of cpu's e.g. 530, 530, 550

1155 - brand new generation of cpu's e.g. 2120

the new 1155 are the sandy bridge cpu;s which are FANTASTIC

On the new generation of Sandybridge cpu's on the K series cpus can be overclocked and can be done on the P67 or Z68 range of motherboards.

well the the standard i3 2120 is £100 and the i5 2500 is £155 with the K variant £10 dearer, whereas the i7 2600K is £35 dearer than its non K variant.
obviously those prices are for retail, the OEM ones are cheaper.
so i reckon about £105 for the i3 2120K that could make it a diamond chip.

are you sure there is even going to be a K series dual core, i heard all the rumours were found out to be just a spelling mistake on a tech website lol
