i3 kabylake vs i7 920

how does a Core i3-7300 4.00GHz (Kaby Lake) compare to an i7 920

i mostly use the i7 for basic CAD, bit of corel draw, internet offfice etc.. be nice to get a bit more up to date with sata3 usb3 ddr4 etc

Buy a cheap hex core xeon and a sata3/ usb 3.0 card..

Job done, cheaper and more powerful for a productivity workload

I3 2c/4t from an i7 4c/8t would be a rather underwhelming 'upgrade' nehalem and westmere cpu's overclock like champs to....

I tried hex core and was unable to overclock it wouldn't post. Tried USB and SATA cards and there was hardly. Any speed increase

I got my i7-920 to 3.8 .. but when I tried xeon pc wouldn't boot with anything but the default bios settings
