Is it possible, and if it is how easy is it to overclock a i3 processor? Running alongside a 2tb WD Green HD, a Z77m d3h motherboard and 8GB ram...

Any help please!

What i3 are you running?

You can increase the FSB by a few MHZ and thats about it, the i3's have a locked multiplier.

From what I read when I had my i3 is that you can increase the BCLK by a Max of 5, taking it from 100 to 105 but it can break other stuff as there is more linked to it than just CPU speed. Also you will only get a very very small overclock so it's not worth the hassle.

I've read a number of comments on numerous forums about overclocking from BLCK on Sandy/Ivybridge setups, with raising the BLCK causing data loss, instability and degredation of components as everything is linked to the BLCK including USB, sata ports, PCI-E slot, etc.

I have no personal experience of the negatives of doing this as what I read put me off, but it's fair enough to say you should be careful doing it. Ultimately though, is it really worth bothering with for 200 or 300Mhz overclock?! 101 - 105 BCLK increase is considered 'safe' by most though.

maybe if you push too far,but 104 will be fine,im running an i3 myself like that without issue

its a free 200-300mhz plus a little boost to memory speed

It's just like in the old days before locked agp, and pci buses. Push too far and corruption on the hdd/ ssd occurs.
