Hi all,

I am looking to build a budget gaming PC, probably based around a 78XX or a 77XX card. The games I will mostly be playing are RTS (starcraft 2) and RPGs (Diablo 3 and Marvel Heroes). I am trying to weigh up the most cost efficient processor to get. I’d rather save money where I can so am trying to decide between an i3 and an i5. I am not particularly bothered about overclocking.

I will be gaming at 1920x1080 and will be using 4gb ram if that makes any difference.

With Haswell just around the corner you're probably best to wait and see what you can pick up second hand when others upgrade.

I'm sure a i3 would be fine for what you need but you'd be just as well to get a i5 if you can find one for a decent price.

The E3 1155 Xeons are great chips too and worth a look :)
