Hope you guys can help, my friend has a i5 10400 on asus prime motherboard. It's used by a 10 year old for the last year since it was purchased with no issues. Recently during games like fortnite and red dead 2 crashing ie restarting the pc.
Was reported to me 4 weeks ago as temps on cpu seemed high over 80c, so cleaned and repasted the standard intel cooler with mx-4 and cleaned the whole pc as it was quite dusty. Now games load but crash to desktop. Temps are better under 65c on core temp. Pc is also blue screening on idle. As it was a prebuilt I'm worried about replacing cooler or any parts of pc at all but I'm thinking either cpu or motherboard has cooked after weeks of running hot.
All cores are still showing in core temp and as mentioned don't seem to be over hot now. Or has the damage been done. I'm not sure if reinstalling windows would help with the crashing.
Please help
