Hi all,

I’ve been really on the fence lately about upgrading my CPU (9900kf 5.0ghz - 1440p 170hz 6950xt)

Since seeing the 7600x go on sale for £200 I’ve been itching on getting one - but then I see the 12600k for £169 which from the reviews offer similar per core performance but the i5 is better at multithreaded workloads. I’ve also seen people suggest Z790 over Z690 though I really like the MSI Z690 Meg ACE which is on sale from £399 to £299 (this will eventually house a 14900k when budget allows) any Z790 boards at £300 or less better than the MSI? In particular what draws me to this board is the 5x nvme slots. Pcie 5.0 dual Lan etc is just a bonus… thoughts? Do I take the i5 now I’d imagine it will offer a good jump in performance vs my i9 for not a lot of cash after I’ve sold my current bundle…

Sorry forgot to mention - all the USB 3.2XYZ confuses me. I have a Corsair 4000d airflow with usb 3.0 on the front and usb-c - I assume these will all connect fine to the MSI Ace board?

I like the ace and if it gives you the features you need then go for it, icertainly wouldnt be concerned about future upgrades to 14th gen but remember the ace is an E-ATX motherboard so will it fit in your 4000d.

Can't see any z790 motherboards with 5 X M2 slots for £300.

12600k at that price is good for a placeholder and resell value should get £100.

Thank you for the response - looking online it appears it does support EATX though I may need to move/remove the cable cover thing - I’m guessing USB 3.0 and USBC on my case won’t be an issue?
