I bought the Acer 5755G laptop last week, nice machine and very happy with it.

It has an I5-2450M 2.5GHz CPU with turbo boost up to 3.1GHz.

I've noticed when playing games it heats up quite a bit.

I want to under-volt the CPU so it doesn't heat up as much.

Anyone know if you can under-volt I5's?

Thanks.

edit: I had the acer 6920G before and it overheated when playing games, so i undervolted that and used throttle-stop to make sure it didn't throttle in game.

Surely it can be done with the 5755G?

It's a laptop, there's a very high chance that the BIOS is locked so you can't change the voltage/turn off turbo boost.

How hot does it get?

That seems about right especially for a laptop. Just make sure when you use it the exhaust ports aren't being covered.
