Installed a Alpine 11 Rev.2 with my 2500 with a asus P8H61M_LX_PLUS_R20 and i'm getting 90 Degress + under load. I removed the thermal paste on the heatsink and now im using the layer on my cpu only, but still didn't help.

Just saw pictures of the CPU cooler, that doesn't look like it's enough to cool it while under load. In fact it doesn't look like it will do any better than the Intel stock cooler.

I would suggest for now to remove the thermal paste on both the cooler and CPU, and apply a fresh layer to see if that helps (half a pea size on the middle of the CPU, then let the pressure from installing the cooler spread it).

Dont forget to clean old paste off with isopropanol or equivalent :)

Scrub both cpu and heatsink with cotton bud till no more black residue comes off...takes about 10 buds to do it properly.

Thanks for the suggestions I removed, cleaned and reapplied thermal paste tested it but only lowered the temps by about 5 Degrees. I tried it again with lots of cotton buds making sure it was attached properly and now I'm getting the desired results. Thank you very much to all those who gave suggestions.

Just using some fresh paste and making sure it was mounted correctly as it was very fiddly.
