i5 2500 Temps

Not sure exactly why they'd be running high but it's worth checking just to rule out high volts causing the problem.

Idle:

BIOS tends to agree with Speedfan for temps.

That 88 on SpeedFan goes down when the PC is idling though and up when it's playing games. Plus it shutdown after less than a minute of 3D Mark 11?

What is the max temp on Real Temp when trying 3DMArk 11? Doesn't mean it's CPU related just because it shut down, could be gpu or something else maybe.I had loads of blue screens to start with then turned out to be my sound card.

Didn't have time yesterday but I'll run 3D Mark 11 and see what Realtemp gives, will it log it anywhere as if it 3D Mark 11 crashes the PC again and turns it off I won't be able to see how high it gets.

On my stock cooler I have 27-33oC idle and 57-61oC Load, make sure that the cooler is fitted properly and that you have good airflow. What's the system and room temperature?

PC is in the corner of a room, near a radiator (that's never on), room does get quite warm sometimes but it's not an unusually warm room. It has a rear fan and front fan.

Run Prime 95 Blend for 30mins and then post back a screenshot of Real Temp & CPU Z while it is still running please. We should then be able to see whether you have a cooling issue.

I don't have anymore thermal paste, will it be fine to leave for 1-2 weeks and do nothing but watch movies and use as internet then I'll get a proper cooler order on my next big one from OcUK?

We just tested a full screen Youtube video and after about 10minutes it shut down on us.

The entire PC just turns completely off....

Could this be a GPU heat issue as can't see Youtube being more demanding than Prime95 and causing the CPU to overheat even more?

I'd try reseating the CPU fan, even if you haven't got any more thermal paste, just reuse the old stuff but make sure of a snug fit. A few bubbles are the least of your worries as far as the temps are concerned. Just think it must be a poor contact.
