Hi guys,

I don't want to start changing my motherboard etc- just want to upgrade the CPU.

Could you guys throw some options my way please?

Thanks

Well unless you go for a 2600k/2700k you can't upgrade without changing your motherboard (though you may be able to use a 3570k/3770k, but whats the point)..

Why do you want to upgrade? What is your rig struggling with?

I suggest get a good overclock on it (if its a K version).. Trust me, it makes a difference. .

Not much point upgrading from your i5 2500K, unless you have a fast enough graphic card(s) to warrant it. Generally people who need i7 is because they got fast enough graphic (i.e. GTX690, 7990, SLI or Crossfire etc) at which point the i5 2500K could become a bottleneck...so unless you got graphic grunts like that, you'd best just stick with what you got.

An overclocked i5 will run those two cards perfectly fine and will only bottleneck it certain CPU intensive games that will bottleneck anyway.
