Any i5 2500k users running at 4.8 to 5.0GHZ? What's your clocks, cooler and temps :) Thinking of pushing this to 4.8, but currently at 4.7 with 1.42V

I suspect that to go higher youll likely need a hefty increase in voltage. Therefore higher temps. For games you dont really need such a high oc tbh. Ive ran the cpu in sig at stock with sli 780's and never had issues. At stock the 4790k only hits 4.4ghz on one core.

Had my previous 2600k stable at 4.9GHz at about 1.45v but it died after a few months :(

Guess i was just unlucky.

Keeping this one under 1.4v just to be safe.

4.5ghz is the sweetspot imo, higher does help ever so slightly, but its down to whether the extra temps/voltages are justified

This tbh, im considering dropping my chip in sig to 4.5. Currently run it daily at 4.7 on 1.300v. But 4.5 on all cores would be plenty. Bit cooler running too. Saying that though, now that i limit fps in games my gpu's arent chucking as much heat into the case. Getting a max of 62c in games. Used to max out in the low 70's on one core.

ran my 2550K@5ghz on 1.4v for a year. it was 1.38v to start with but a few benches at over 5.3ghz on 1.6v and i needed 1.4v for 5ghz. temps were low 70's on an alpenfohn matterhorn.

I'm currently on 4.6GHz, I still have a fair bit of headroom in voltage yet, currently at around 1.32v I think. Currently being held back by the cooler. Awaiting delivery of a H105 this week so that should help things along and I'll be pushing for 4.8-5GHz.

When I had a 2500K my motherboard had an overclock button on it, pressed it and it clocked to 4.5 with no effort. It ran a little warmer and the fan was a little noiser but easiest overclocking I've done. Turned it off after a while as I preferred the quieter setting. Hitting 5 would be nice, mostly as it sounds good!

My 3770k will do 5Ghz @ 1.28v, 5.1Ghz at 1.325v and 5.2Ghz around 1.35v.

The 2700k I had before it would do 4.8Ghz at 1.368v. Temps would go through the roof above 1.4v under water. I would expect the i7 to run a little hotter but to be safe I would keep it 1.42v or under. I really wouldn't stick with 1.45v 24/7. This time of the year you'll get away with it but come summer time your temps will sky rocket.
