i5 2500k and P8P67.. Help?

Hi guys,

Ive only just started looking at overclocking and have been looking at a number of guides and different advice. Im having a couple of issues. 1 is that if I overclock or change the Vcore, intel speedstep stops working. so my multiplier is always at x38 ( i just tried x38 as a first step). Also, on the default settings, my VCore voltage is somewhere around 1.16V on full load. I changed my multiplier and then added a VCore offset of 0.005V, and then I get a VCore of 1.36V? Any ideas? Am I write in thinking I should use the offset as opposed to changing it to manual and inputting a voltage directly?
 
offset adds some voltage aswell as the loadline calibration setting (depends on what level you use) = final cpu load voltage

set cpu multi to 45x,pci/cpu bclk to 100,llc(loadline calibration) to high and cpu offset to +0.010v and then see what load cpu v is

leave all turbo ratio's on auto
 
yes,extreme llc will boost cpu voltage the most

can test for stability now 1.35v seems to be right for 4.5ghz unless you have a good chip,

you can try lowering offset if you want to lower load cpu voltage so maybe +0.005v or +0.000v or a negative offset so -0.005v to take off cpu voltage, you would need to test
 
too hot imo,could be your cooler idk how those perform

can try leaving offset as it is and choose one level lower llc so maybe medium llc

try to stay below 80c core temps

This, without the extra fans. However I did mention in another thread I made I had to take the case fan off because the heatsink is too big, lol... Im tempted to buy a new case now as well, but the fan that was on there was crappy anyway.

Ive got the Voltage to 1.3 however it was getting a rounding error (0.4 instead of 0.5) on Prime95.

Lowered multiplier to 44 and seems stable. Temperatures are still in the 80s under the stress test though
 
Your temps seem too high given what you have said. I'd maybe trying re-seating the cooler with some good thermal paste.

This is basically what my HWmonitor report says.. I mgiht just reset to stock for the time being until a later date. This cooler was difficult to fit so I cant be bothered to do it right now. lol.
 
Any thermal paste that you'd recommend? I might by a new, slightly bigger case and then try re seating it when I switch everything over :) oh! Do you recommend anything for removing the old paste too?
 
Just a quick update. I bought a new cooler master case for my PC, when I switched everything over I managed to tighten a bolt on the CPU cooler a lot which I struggled with before. After putting everything in the new case, Im getting around 63C after a half hour of Prime95 and running at 1.32V and 4.4Ghz. Sound better? :)
