Hi,

I was wondering if you could help me overclock my i5 2500K to get a bit more life out of it?

My motherboard is an MSI P67A-GD65 and I have a CM Hyper 212+. Hopefully that is all the information you need, anything else I can give as well.

I'm really worried about doing this as I don't want to fry it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I haven't got round to doing this just yet. One thing i have noticed is that my core clock speed keeps dropping whilst in games.

If I look at CPU-Z the core speed keeps dropping to like 1.5GHz. However my game keeps lagging etc. I have tried disabling EIST before but it seemed to make no difference at all. Does anyone know why this might be?

Thanks :)

Ok stupid question now, I cannot for the life of me see the turbo multiplier option. Could it be something else?

There are options for all four course and also the core multiplier?

The core multiplier is 'Adjust CPU ratio' in the second screenshot.
Don't worry about the per-core ratios in the bottom shot, they always vary a little from the main setting.
If any help, I always kept C1E enabled with my 2500K... And get XMP switched on!

Thank you for your response :)

So the 'Adjust CPU ratio' is the same thing as the turbo multiplier? If I up that to 42 or something first then just see how my computer performs? No other changes are necessary?

And I should enable C1E and XMP?

Thanks :)

Ok CPU is now at 4.2GHz. It's not lowering when idle though like was mentioned previously. Does this matter or should I enable C1E?

I have only been running for about 10 minutes but have played DayZ. This is what it currently looks like:
