Hi,

I don't know an awful lot about overclocking so I don't really know where to begin...

I've been getting a lot of BSOD's recently and was recommended to update my BIOS, so I did without thinking and have lost my overclock settings, and was wondering if anyone would be able to give me advice on where to begin, to get my overclock back?

I've got an i5 2500k 3.3ghz which is currently stock, but used to be overclocked to 4.6ghz
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
both in an Asus P8Z68-V Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

any ideas?

thanks,
beef

If you have flashed the Bios you probably have lost the settings. As above look for a OcUK profile in the Bios. If its there reload it.

Hi,

The overlock profiles were gone, all deleted when I flashed the BIOS, last night I just went in and changed the multiplier from 40 to 46, voltage to auto and left everything else the same. Put prime95 on when I went to sleep, ran it overnight (8hrs) with a max temp of 72 and no errors. Result.

What is the max CPU voltage you get on Auto?

All you have to do is plug in a Usb memory stick and press f12 to print/take screenshot of each bios page/setting,then if you reset cmos or update bios you still have all your settings saved in pictures

CPU at idle in the BIOS is 1.256 volts but I did notice that it changes by small amounts

RAM is around 1.5v but also flexes, maximum I saw it at was 1.512

Memory frequency is at 1600mhz - is this correct?

Memory timings are untouched.

Going to run the Intel burn test overnight tonight and see if I get any errors

Deception - that's what I was hoping for, maybe someone purchased exactly the same bundle and could share their settings with me :)

you only need 10 runs on high or maximum with intel burn test, due to it being very stressfull on the cpu

run it overnight if you like frying cpu's though

good job I came back to check for replies or I might have screwed something up then :) I'll put it on for a bit now and keep my eye on it.

edit 1: following that, it ran fine and said my CPU is stable.

edit 2: didn't run it on maximum, its running now...
