Do I use the eps12v 8-pin or the 12v 4 pin? The motherboard has an 8 pin socket with 4 pins covered by a removable space.

Thanks

Not sure...just setup my UD7 and the 8 pin from the corsair psu wouldnt fit as different layout so i just put the half of it (4 pin) in that did fit. seems to be working fine :)

Mine wasnt covered up but i wasnt going to force the thing in.

On yours i would guess if its blanked off its not needed.

But what if the 8 pin doesnt match the socket on the board? (squres and circles in diff position...no i didnt use the pcie one by mistake :))

mmm strange.

The top half of the cable is normal 12v but the lower half is 4 circle connections instead of the usual 2 of each diagonally opposite...no other cable in box.

psu is a corsair gold 850w :(

Edit: It did fit afterall...just felt like it didnt but went in without any force even though bits dont match up...better to be over cautious than force something i guess.

what board is it ? When I set up my MSI P67A GD65 it had the same thing 4 pins of the 8 pin socket for the cpu were covered. I looked at it and said, I am going to be overclocking this hard, its going to need scotty to send it all the pwer it can get from the engines so I just removed the dustcover and put the 8 pin plug in.

So far nothing has blown up and all the voltages from the PSU, and on the board are fine
