Thanks, but how do you monitor the core temp?
I'll try reseating the cooler, but I'll need to get some thermal paste.
The exiting thermal contact seems to be three small pads, will they have to be removed to reseat it?

Hi, I've just completed a build using a 2500K and a Asus p8p67 mobo and wondered what the normal idle running temperature of the CPU should be. The EZ BIOS shows 109 DegC, I thought this seemed hot so switched off.
I'm guessing you have HT on? if so those temps are perfectly normal. If I'm honest, this is a far cry from the old Bloomfield and Lynnfield processors, which I think is throwing people. My 2600k is hitting 69c on small ffts with 1.32v (cpuz) @4.6GHz. 22c-24c room temp and a H50 in push/pull with akasa vipers. Is this about right?lol

Once people neared the 4Ghz barrier on the i5 and i7s before, temps would rocket to nearly 80degrees (and usually higher in the case of the i7s) in most cases under load. Now these new gen appears to get to around 4.6ghz and with decent cooling the chips have trouble reaching above 70!
