My board seems to have automatically overclocked my chip to around 4.3ghz, which is fine. However it runs at around 70c when under load (just been playing BFBC2 for a couple of hours, max temp was 71c. Readings from 'realtemp'). I also don't know how to check exactly how far it's been overclocked. CPU-Z tells me it's running at 1648mhz??

Is this ok? I don't want to fry my chip.

I currently just have the stock cooler but may upgrade to one of those corsair watercooling ones soon.

By the way I am completely new to all of this overclocking malarky.

71c isn't bad but not great either, i'd get rid of that stock cooler as soon as possible, ideal temps for idle 28c - 35c and for full load 54c - 65c would be more acceptable.

Sandy bridge down steps when not loaded so 1600mhz reading is normal this'll increase as soon as you put a load on it.
