Hey guys, I've just recently built a pc. I seem to be having problems with temps and I'm not sure if they're too high considering im using a noctua nh-d14.

Anyway here are the specs:
CPU:i5 2500k
Case: Coolermaster 690-ii advance with stock fans
Fan: NOctua nh-d14 (i used the paste included with the fan)
GPU: msi 560ti
Mobo: msi gd65
PSU: antec trupower 650

Anyway, I don't know if these are considered great as idle temps for the nh-d14, I get around 27-43c idle. The pc is running at stock at the moment and not tinkered with the bios yet. Also I did an hour of prime95 and have gotten 55c max temp from the test. Are these temps weird or just right? Thanks guys

That sounds about right tbh. Mine idles at 28-29 and maxes at 60. That's with a Mega Shadow heatsink plus 1 Apache fan at 4.4Ghz.

What are your ambient room temps? If it's anything like where I am then that will cause it to run slightly hotter at the moment.

I'm not too sure about the room temp but I'd say its fairly cool. I'm just worried that its going over 40c and its not even overclocked plus im using noctua.

I think your temps ar about right to be honest have a similar setup apart from cooler, I have a bequiet advanced pro
when running idle temps vary between 29-38 but then there is not a lot of processes in the background and i constatntly have a window open about 5 feet from my pc, bear in mind that we are getting abnormally warm days for this time of year. mine prime 95 stable @58c.

same case with stock fans
2500K at stock
GTX480Soc
MSI P67 GD65 rev b
reseated the cooler recently with arctic silver 5 as was getting 76-78c in prime 95

As previously said if your room is a bit warmer than normal the temps could be higher (has been warm here recently) airflow and any other heat producing components may also affect it.

My 2500k reaches 60C after 2 hours at 4.5Ghz with a NH-D14, i would recommend overclocking it and see-ing what temps you get, i mean some people's 2500k's are reaching temps in 70's and im sure yours will not reach that high even when overclocked with that cooler.

Also check bios etc to see if the fans on the cooler are running full speed, and also did you use the voltage restrict cable? as that will slow the fans down, which means less noise but also less cooling.

Edit: also it can get hotter the more vcore you put through it (mine has about 1.367 under prime95 load according to cpu-z)

Thanks for the replies.

I didn't put the ultra low noise adapters for the fans since i don't mind the noise just concerned with the temps. I'm going to try to overclock it later on (first time), so fingers cross the temp doesnt go as high. cheers lads
