I got an i5 2500k and a coolermaster V8 cpu cooler a few days ago, planning to overclock a bit next week.

any ideas how this cooler will perform? i didnt really look into the coolers, i just kind of had everything but a cooler and went to a shop and bought the best looking one they had lol.

For the price and design of the V8 I would expect it to perform pretty well, and reviews suggest this too.

I have installed it, no overclock yet though. so standard i think it was like 27-32c at idle and 40-45c on full load, although im not near my computer and thats the best i can remember

so far ive went to 4.6ghz at 1.33v

idle is 30-33c

5 runs on the intel burn test at very high setting and the hottest it got was 61c

im not sure if thats good or not, gonna try prime95 or what ever its called for a few hours and see how it goes.

bah wound it back to 4.5 at 1.33v because i was getting a hardware failure really quickly on prime95. started again, its lasted longer already, hopefully be ok!

what motherboard are you using? sounds like you just need a little more vcore for 4.6 or a change in llc or something, temps look real good for a mid range air cooler

its a asus p8p67 deluxe board.

been running prime 95 for an hour now at the 4.5ghz-1.33v, its doing very well I think, highest its been is 61c, and thats only in little spikes, its mostly a little under 60 and at idle its 31-35c

might try for 4.6 or maybe even a little higher, but im not sure yet lol

ok, went for 4.6ghz at 1.34v, gonna put prime95 on for a while and see how it does.

idle seemed to be hovering 33-38c and its holding nicely around 60c on load with the highest its been so far 61c. only been on for ten minutes though lol

I have a 212+ cooler and I found little difference between prime 95 at 5 mins and 25 mins ....

Highest spike was 55°C but that was at stock. Not convinced of my cooler tbh and might buy another.

eurg I went back to the 4.5ghz at 1.33v because higher has failed so far.

im really happy with the cooler now like. maximum of 60c after a few hours of prime95, should be good for what i use the computer for lol
