i5 2500K with ASRock Board... OC noob!

Cheers!

Kept it on 4 and -0.01. Played Skyrim for 2 hours and left it idling for a while.. no further issues and it applied updates without BSOD. My Gpu is also running at 950mhz nice and cool.

Thanks for the help. Fingers crossed the stability will continue. If there are no problems over the next 2 weeks I might try for 4.8!

You're welcome buddy, enjoy your new found Power. :D
Look forward to seeing your name in the 5GHz club in a couple of weeks ;)

Haha... we'll see. The rig has been solid ever since that small adjustment. Seeing as I seem to have a reasonable chip, it'd be rude to not try getting to 4.8 at some point I think, although I doubt I'd keep it there as I don't want the extra cooling requirements.

Not sure if it's worth trying to squeeze anything extra out of the memory as well, although I'm guessing any performance increase would be pretty small.

I too have one of these boards but I do a lot of gaming and use games such as Arma2 and Trainsimulator 2012/Railworks - I know these are CPU intensive but also use memory, I have some G.Skill RipJawsX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 that will run at 2133MHz, would I have more performance in games using the G.skills or the Corsair XMS3 8GB

Thanks kindly for any responses
