Hi guys, iv just seen this new cpu on ocuk, when was this released?
why have they released another sandy bridge?
why haven't i heard about it?
how much better is it than the 2500k?

Ill answer in 3 stages, its a cast off of a 2500k minus a integrated gpu. And according to most people its not worth the upgrade if even it is one thats why it hasnt really been reviewed since its basically a gpu-less 2500k

From another thread
Absolutely not worth it.

The 2550K is the same chip as the 2500K apart from a 100Mhz speed bump (3% increase) and the lack of the graphics core (which if you have a H67 or Z68 board can be used as a backup or for quick sync acceleration).

If you really want a CPU upgrade then I would wait a few months until the Ivy Bridge chips arrive - which will work in existing s1155 boards.

id personally go for the i5 2500k you lose stuff with the i5 2550k like lucid and since its more expensive i dont see why i would pay more for less.

The 2550K is just another way for Intel to get rid of chips that have a faulty graphics core.

Add a 5 to it's name, bump the speed up by 100Mhz, and you have a new product for the masses.

Avoid it! 2500K all the way.
