i5 3470 / 3570 Overclock

I'm torn between trying to work out which is the best non K Ivy Bridge to get for a project that needs vt-d

Mostly looking at the 3470 or 3570 but realistically how much BCLK overclock could I achieve ?

The world record for an overclock on ivy bridge is (or was, it might have been beaten) was 7.03GHz clockspeed, using lots of liquid nitrogen and a x63 clock multiplier. The bus speed was set to 111.63Mhz.

For lesser mortals, a lot less than that. My i5 3570k refused to load windows when I set my bus to 105Mhz, but that was with it running at 4Ghz.

? you have a K ... what you doing faffing around with the BCLK when it's easier to use the multiplier ?

I have only overclocked using the multiplier but this thread throws up some issues with BCLK Overcloking.

They seem to say its linked to the SATA controllers? Im not sure though.

Im sure you can OC the 3470 but you won't get as high as the 3570k. Around 3.6-3.8 would be the Max.

Shouldn't touch the BCLK... it scales the PCI slots and everything and can be quite bad for your boards health.
