Hi,

What's the maximum safe operating temperature of the i5-3470S?

I can't find this information anywhere.. I'm not overclocking it or anything, but when I stress the CPU using wPrime, it hits 70-75C. This seems about 20-30C higher than my 2500K at stock... does it sound reasonable or too hot?

Cheers.

70-75C is fine. It's when it gets to 85+ you want to start worrying. My mobo has an automatic shutdown if my processor gets to 90C which it never does.

If you are still concerned then you could check the seating and thermal paste of the cooler to make sure it has full contact of the CPU

105C is when it will throttle. Best kept the right side of 85C under prime or IBT.

Sounds a little toasty.

Matt
