what shoud my idle temp be processor idle temp between 36c and 40c

It's different for every processor. Your idle temps are fine, what is your load?

My 3570K normally idles around 32C but the room temepture can bring it down to 23C or up to 38C.

my i5 3570k

it idles between 36 and 38c no load just wondered if it was normal using a coolermaster hyper 612s and using arctic 5 paste
using prime 95 under load i get between 60 and 63c

Antec h20 620 i use with 2 decent fans in push pull and my idle temps are usually 32 ish.

This is a non-oced i5 3570k.

Mine's OC'd to 4.4 and it idles at around 30 degrees at room temperature. I do have a whopper of a cooler though

Mine is OC'd to 4.2ghz and idles at around 30c room temp (using an H80 cooler)

those load temps are fine,is your cpu o/cd ?

Idling at 26c here at 4.5ghz, though under full load with ibt it hits the mid 70's. 64c max in games. Cooled by an alpenfohn k2 with dual 1900 rpm akasa piranha fans.

This is my setup by now:

CPU Intel Core i5-3570K, MSI Z77MA-G45, 8GB DDR3, 240G SSD, MicroATX case

With a CPU cooler Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2, it performs like around 34 at idle 800RPM 70 at load 1400RPM without overclock, it can rotate to 2500RPM at full speed but that's not my tastes as I only have one 120mm fan in the case at 800RPM also Arctic branded, noise is most important consent for me so I keep them at low speed, room temp is 22, actually I can't find any other cpu cool this good looking and efficient at this cost, you might wanna take look at it.
