I'm running at 4.5ghz and tested 100% load for 4 hours max temp was 89c is this too high? Cooled by dark rock pro with fans max speed of 600rpm.

a little bit high yes,but to be expected if you max fan rpm is 600

also how much cpu v you using at load?

what cooler? its ok the temps but getting them lower would be better, ideally sub 85c

something like an akasa apache fan might work better?

If prime is using AVX then it will bump the voltage up to 1.32v if on auto or offset voltage.

Temps are fine when it's just stress testing.

The pc is going to be used for light gaming at 1080p but it's main job will be running photoshop.

you only really need to use those programs to see where you are regarding load voltages/temps and reduce them if need be

I find just 5 runs on ibt max stress,if it passes that then I play some games to test for stability and just use the pc normally

Yeah, absolutely no point in looking for stable Prime95 temps.

I do a lot of encoding and rendering with mine @ 4.7Ghz, that sort of work is the most tress you can put the CPU through in the real world, after hours of it i get 75c max, gaming 55c max. with Prime95 my CPU would boil too.

You would never put the system through that, its a pointless target.

Stability is relative, if you push any CPU hard enough nothing is stable, if its stable for your needs its stable. :)
