For some time I have been fiddling with my I5 3570k. A few people on here have been helpful and offered advice but I am a bit stuck.

I think I have a dog of a CPU and have been struggling to get good temps and stable OC. In addition now my multiplier seems to be stuck at a max of 43. Even when I return all stock bios settings the CPU will overclock to 4.3ghz. The overclock is stable in Prime and IBT but will occasionally fall down in games (especially War Z which seems to be quite intensive). I have read about others with similar problems on here to do with the Uefi bios?? Do I need to reset the Bios?

In IBT tests the CPU is reaching late 80s and in gaming (with auto settings) the mobo is feeding it around 1.41v which is far too high in my mind.

I have an Asus P8Z77-V
I5 3570k
16GB Corsair
Corsair H100i

I have reseated the cpu and cooler and temps were the same. Once I get the bios sorted I might attempt to delid the CPU...

But first things first. Any help is appreciated

1st thing i would do is turn on turbo , and try to set that to 4ghz if you can.

2nd i would set voltage to manual and set the voltage to 1.2v, that alone should drop your temps down.

I have a gigabyte d3h z77 board so my settings may be a little different to yours, but i will help if i can.

your cpu should run 4.3ghz at 1.2v hopefully as mine does with temps around 60c at 4.3

Reflash the BIOS again, load optimised defaults and start over again, keep all powersaving enabled just set CPU multi to 45x low llc and -0.010 CPU offset

Sometimes the setting will stick and reflashing the BIOS unsticks it

Thanks Wazzaa. Seems a lot better now

I set LLC to 'regular' as there was no low setrting and set the offset you recommended. Seems stable in IBT with max temp of 78c on a very warm day.

Max cpu voltage is around 1.2 which feel a lot more comfortable than 1.4v!

What about Asus EPU Power Saving Mode? Yay or Nay? I have left is at the default setting which is diabled

Thanks

I wouldn't bother with software power saving, its usually unstable, you can try it if you like but the cpu's built in power saving is enough imo

you might be able to reduce load cpu voltage further by increasing negative offset so maybe try -0.020v now and so on until its unstable then just add one/two clicks

I am currently running 1805 Bios which is the one with the stuck multiplier. I am trying to update to the latest but when I try and start Asus EZ flash it just gives a black screen and I have to hard restart. Any suggestions??

Thanks

Ok I had to resort to updating the Bios through windows using asus update but im now running the latest.

The settings which were previously stable are now falling down so I think i'll just back off and use a milder OC

And now I cannot select my SSD as a boot drive. The only way to boot is to use the boot override in the bios lol.

I swear this system has been a right pain in the ass. My old X48/Q6600 ws so much easier!
