Hi all

I am thinking of selling my I5 and putting the money towards a ryzen.

Also for gaming at 1080p on a 24 inch monitor what would match my I5 performance wise in the ryzen line of cpu's?.im not trying to go crazy and beat my I5,if possible im basicly wanting to just switch platforms for as little as possible then upgrade later to the better stuff.i feel like im constantly on the older dying sockets so fancied moving to something more future proof for once.

Hold your horses just a little longer. The next gen Ryzen processors are right around the corner.

With Ryzen you can get the modestly priced B350 motherboards (B450 next gen??) and still put the all singing all dancing processors in them and overclock them.

Something like the R5 1600 or the 2600 when that launches is 6 core, 12 thread. They are very well priced and should actually be a considerable upgrade over your current i5

thanks for the help.what's the difference between current ryzen and the next gen.do you know the ETA for next gen.sorry for the ignorance i didn't even know they were doing next gen with how slow AMD have shown them selves to be in the past.i thought the current line up would stay for the next 10 years lol

Naa it's all kept quiet. There is a "paper launch" in a couple of days. It means they are officially released but nowhere will have any stock.

On average the upcoming processors should be around 300-400MHz faster than the previous generation. That's a nice healthy performance increase on the clocks compared to Intel's iterations.

If the 2017 release was anything to go by then I would assume that the 6 core R5 2600 would be the go to model for gamers after the best bang for the buck.
