i5 4590K vs i5 6600k

DDR4 is quicker right?

That's a bold question to ask in a forum :p

Simply, yes. It is rated for higher speeds, 2133MHz and up generally speaking, whereas DDR3 is only normally rated up to 2133MHz, although some can go higher and lower than these, I'm just generalising.

This will only really effect your performance if you are running RAM intensive programs, like video editing software, or if you have an APU in your system and not a dedicated GPU.

If you are gaming, you won't be able to tell the difference between the two :)

DDR4 is pricier too, though i presume it's not long before it will be standard in all boards. There is no backwards compatibility between DDR4 and DDR3 right?
