I5 4760k temps

Intel recommended the Tcase temperature does not go above 72c (Measured just under the heat spreader)

But generally I would keep the actual cores under 80c~ at full load.
 
I like to keep my temps under 80c also, if you are using the Intel cooler you wont have much headroom on overclocking though ;)

I changed to an Arctic freezer and my temps at load droped 20c even after getting a bigger overclock. And that was with a quite cheap cpu cooler
 
I have got the be quite shadow rock, what software would do you find best for giving core temp readings.complete novice and over paroniod on my new build lol
 
I was playing fsx last night and had norton telling me cpu 100 pencent used and panicing the core was getting to hot.
