i5 6500 to ryzen 2700

so having run on a pretty limp CPU comparing to my dearly missed 5820k , i thought it was time for me to move on to ryzen

Having purchased a 2700 and accompanying x470 board , im having second thoughts. Im pretty sure my choice of board was a daft one after reading the rare reviews i could find ( TUF Gaming Plus ) TUF no longer meaning what it once did , is fairly feature stripped , and only a 6-Phase Power Design for the CPU!?... im figuring power limitations are going to be a killer for me wanting to push uptowards 4.1 , 4.2 all core overclocks ?

secondly, the 8600k ... it still feels like a step down from where i once was ( 5820k as mentioned ) so despite IPC increase im still missing my threads.

I am a power user , and will undoubtly benefit from the added cores , and threads Zen+ provides... but in the back of my mind , im screaming minimum framerates and such , and at this point wonder how much benefit if any at all will i get from the new CPU in games.

currently running 16GB 2666mhz DDR4 which is currently clocked at the JDEC standard ( bloody intel locking me out of XMP here , so at least ill get to use what i paid for now but seeing infinity fabric loving and being able to running higher clocked kits out of the gate , i also wonder how much benefit will i find moving up to 3GHZ plus kits.

boards going back , will look for something with better VRMs , and power circuitry . main reason for going to x470 over other chipsets was primarily for better power delivery above all other features , im assuming b350 is fine for lower core count chips purley due to lower spec'd power delivery on those boards. as for being locked out of XMP that was only on my 6500 system , and im assuming thats because the CPU is not unlocked ( and the fact im on a micro atx H110m board ) , CPUS arrived , Boards being sent back , and will certainly look at overclocking the Memory , 1.35v and 2933mhz should be possible on my kit depending on IMC im sure. dont have any faster DDR4 , the only other stuff i have ( 2133 ) is going back with the i5 6500 for the missus .

i think i was just looking for clarification that this was the overall better choice compared to the 8600k ,

1070 @ 2000mhz
16gb DDR4 1.35v
240 AIO
4 Mechanical Drives
2 x 250GB SSDS
Lots of Rgb fans and goodness


im still assuming whilst pushing my luck very slightly , i wont be pulling 450w ?

That's with cheap C(r)apXon capacitors in very bad place for cooling, so wouldn't go stressing that heavily.

The 2700 is better overall than the 8600K.

The power on the overclocked CPU is around 130 Watts, the GPU about 150 to 200 Watts or a little more overclocked, i would have advised 550 Watts but you should be fine with a 450 Watt Superflower PSU because they are pretty good.

If your memory supports 2933Mhz it will have no issues running that, even Ryzen 1### can run the crappiest of 3000Mhz and that speed, like mine.

2666mhz kit but hoping it will do 2933 without much agro.

hoping PSU is up to job , was purchased on the back of my 1200 SF and havnt been upset with it yet so fingers crossed. thanks for the advice guys !!
