Title says it all really. Is my processor just not upto the job, just upgraded gpu to 5700xt and on my Lg170a I beleive best I can get is i7.

I honestly enjoy modern warfare but running the nuts off my cpu like that can't be good.
Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

I would say it's time to upgrade your CPU, the only path you can take is 6700k I'm pretty sure.. I wouldn't expect big performance gains though

Yes, as the other posters say, a 4-thread CPU is gonna struggle. Even an i7 with 4 more threads would make a decent difference, but second hand prices on those are out of order.

I don't think it's that bad if you only have to upgrade the CPU and Motherboard, what RAM does your system have?

Exactly. You can build it all outside of the case and then it's just a case of grabbing the whole lot by the CPU heatsink, screwing the board in and connecting everything up. It's really not difficult.

DDR4 2 x 8GB (2133)

I believe cpu i7 is around £300, quite pricey I think for what it is.

The 6700k used is pretty pricey still which is crazy.. I'd be tempted to upgrade the CPU and Motherboard and use the RAM you have for now but it depends on your budget tbh

to be honest mate without sounding a flash git money isnt an issue and happy to upgrade. Reason I was reluctant was purely for getting the most for my money.
AMD is king at the moment isnt it, heard Intel is fairly behind?
If I upgrade ill upgrade properly but also just bought a new GPU for the current machine so will probably leave that for now.

current system

LG170A MB
i5 6600 cpu
2 x 8GB sticks (2133)
RX 5700 XT GPU (new)

Oh yea and I just got a new 750w PSU ha.

Thats decent, yea I really enjoy warzone. Considered trying firestorm in the hope it gives me the same fix :)
I'd say def change to a Ryzen 3000 chip, the 3600 has unfortunately just gone up in price but still worth it.

You'll be able to sell your old chip and board just don't expect a lot for it.

Ahhh you posh git ;)

As @Mark1989 has said, a nice step up to Ryzen 3000 series would do the job for sure and also paired with the 5700xt you'll be loving it mate

I had the 6600k until about 1 year ago. I bought a 6700k of the bay for £170 then sold the 6600k for about £120 I think. Cant remember the exact number but after bay fees cost me about £100 for the swap.

Was it worth it? Who knows, probably. Im at 4k so don't need to much CPU power - I'm sure the HT gives a boost in some games!

Guys so I'm going to bite the bullet but this is only the 2nd pc I've built so here we go with the questions.

Firstly I have a 250gb ssd drive and a 1tb HD I think. When you go for your 2nd build do you just get brand new drives?
Also what happens with win10 on this pc, do I have to now buy a new one, being honest I reckon I haven't got old one now as I have just moved.

So a MB I'll look at but bearing in mind I have a new 5700Xt gpu and 750w processor is it worth me getting a better cpu. What would be ideal.

Take hard drives with you, no need to replace them unless you want more space.

Windows may transfer over but if OEM key likely won't activate on a new board however there is certain places you can source windows keys for few quid.

What's your budget for the board and CPU?

Certainly would like at getting the Ryzen 3600 at least mind
