Hi, so I'm in the process of upgrading my system. I currently have a i5 3570k which seems to cause me to stutter quite a lot in more CPU intensive games such as Arma so I was thinking of upgrading my CPU to either the i5 6600k or i7 7600k, my questions is which should I go for? I use my PC for just Gaming really, is it overkill to get an i7 if I'll just be using it for gaming? I am thinking of pairing either one with a GTX 1080 as there isn't a great deal difference in price now between the 1070 and 1080.

So yeah, is it worth the extra 80-100 quid to get an i7 or just get the 6600k? I just want to get rid of the stuttering in certain games. It isn't my GPU as I've tried various GPU's and the problem persists.

Any help is appreciated, cheers.

I think that buying a quad core now and expecting it to last 3-4 years is a mistake. Would you be planning on overclocking the 6700k?

I would be having a good go at overclocking yes, haven't done it before so i think its about time I try get the best out of it. What would be equivalent to a 6700k with a Ryzen then?

I just want the best CPU for gaming really.
