Has anyone here had decent results with this cpu?
I'm struggling to break 4.5 at the moment. voltage is set to 1.375 and thats stable, literally anymore ; multi or BLCK cache, anything and it either wont boot or it crashes.

Running it on a Asus Z170-A 16gb kingston 2666 ram and cooled by a corsair h100i.

In real world usage this keeps it around 70 degrees which is hotter than my 4690k at same clocks (but at 1.2v) but only just a little better in benchmarks.

Am I expecting too much or have I got the runt of a batch?

Thanks guys, it wasn't so much as an upgrade as I built this for my son. But now hes using the haswell rig and I've got this. I'm not complaining I've got ddr4 and hopefully a decent upgrade path on this socket. I was just hoping I could get more out of it.

I'm going to try lowering the multiplier and experiment with the BLCK instead.

Also, apologies for not using the other thread it says i7 so I didn't give it a second look.

1.5? I wouldn't even like to think how they're cooling that.
When you say it like that I suppose it isn't too bad. I've broke my 3d mark scores with this anyhow.
Thanks for your input.

My frame rates in planetside 2 and gta 5 are definitely a lot smoother, other games I play don't really tax my computer so its hard to tell. Gaming benchmarks are higher though my 3dmark score went from 9621 to 10119 (both chips at 4.5ghz both using a gtx 970 g1)

If buying a new system I cannot see why anyone would get a 4690k over this. But would I pay the price to upgrade? No.
Price is a factor at the moment because of the expensive motherboards and ddr4 being priced higher than ddr3 but this will soon change. Plus with 1151 we have an upgrade path. 1150 is dead now.
