Hi guys, I'm looking to overclock my brothers i5 750 to 3.6GHz if possible and I'd like to know which CPU cooler I should get to keep it sub 60 degrees at that speed. The budget is however much is necessary.

Any advice you can give me on overclocking on this chipset would be awesome too.

Thanks.

Using a megahalems on mine, does the job nicely and should keep it below 60 if you get any half decent fan (Yate Loons do the job).

If you want something a bit cheaper, I'd say try the Gelid Tranquillo. Though I'm not sure if you'll see sub-60 with that. I'm happy with mine as long as it doesn't go over 70...

*Update*

I've managed to overclock to 3.6GHz and everything seems fine, but when stress testing I noticed the multiplier will jump from anywhere in between 17-20. CPUz doesn't show a change in speed it is only in coretemp. I have disabled all the settings I thought might be causing it to happen and so I've come here hoping someone knows what the problem is.

Hmmm - I've always found that core temp seemed to be a bit behind CPU-Z in terms of the multiplier - though that doesn't really answer your question as is it shouldn't be dropping the multiplier at all.

Definitely checked that all the speedstep, C states and whatnot is all disabled in the BIOS (a silly question I'm sure..)?
