I have the above processor in an Asus P7P55D PRO mb with 4gb of corsair ram.

I am planning on upgrading the graphics cards from the current 2 x 5770.

I was thinking along the lines of 2 x 7870.

Will my present setup prevent these from running at their best ?

I also intend to change to 8 gb of ram.

Any advice much appreciated.

if it does start to slow down, over clock it and it will last you another year or so, just get a better cooler etc for it, and your welcome

Yeah, I got a better cooler and used the asus overclocking tool a while back to speed things up and that made quite a difference to cpu speed but slowed the ram down ?
I guess I need to get ram that can run at a higher speed when I upgrade that.
Thanks once again.

Your mobo can Xfire properly as the lanes run in sync (X8 and X8) and it uses DDR3 which is nice :)

Personally I'd look at a single 7950 which has more VRAM than the 7870.

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H795QC3G2M) £239.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £41.99
Total : £292.78 (includes shipping : £9.00).

Start with that, I doubt you will need a second GPU unless you are running an eyefinity setup

Mmmm, thats an interesting proposal and will certainly save some cash which can go towards the monitor i was also thinking about.

Thanks for your input.
