until the Intel releases in January. Does anyone know anything about this pending intel release ? anyone link me to sites with any info ?

i5 750 now. Impending Intel releases are dual-cores with hyperthreading and integrated graphics (Clarkdale and Arrandale), and hex-cores with hyperthreading (Gulftown), which will be very expensive.

But not long after those lot the normal ones will also shift down to 32nm, but there is no time frame on that atm.

lol well i had to say it, but like i said though there is no concrete dates for the normal cpu's will most probably be 2nd half of 2010 or something, so getting one now would'nt be a prob i guess, could allways sell it on a certain auction site later lol.

next CPUS coming out are going to be expensive. Tbh my i5 is clocked at 3.5ghz and i dont see any need to go faster for a couple more years. Ill just waste my money on SSD drives. Already got 1 and loving it to peices. Buy i5 save money then get SSD

Yes Clarkdale and Arrandale will be under £200, but they're value desktop and mobile chips with integrated graphics. There won't be a successor to Lynnfield until early 2011.

I haven't actually got round to placing my order yet, but I think I'm settled on the i5 750. I'm liking the £140 ish price tag, suits my budget well and reading in the 750 OC'ing thread people seem very happy with it...... haha, as for what I am currently running...I'm a little behind the curve atm, 2500xp barton (OC'd, LOL)... can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to building my new PC and seeing the difference. Jumping from 2500xp, 9800pro win XP to i5 750, win 7, SSD and yte to be decided GFX card, should be quite an eye opener.

What does this mean. Are the processors going to be made smaller or something :confused:

It means the transistors used to make up a processor get smaller, so more can fit into the same area. It's the main reason behind increases in processing power.

I have considered this and the xeon E3440 (4cores+4HT & 19x multi), but hyper threading doesn't seem to warrant the extra cash from the benchies I have seen, certainly not in software available today anyway. Of course if anyone knows of a good reason to go for a hyper threaded CPU I'm open to the suggestion.
