Hi there I posted this in the Official Core i5 Overclocking Thread this morning and haven't had a reply yet, the thread did seems to die a weeks ago though. Maybe I'll have more luck here.

Just overclocked my i5 750 for the first time... well overclocking is a complete first to me so I'm really going by other peoples settings. I've got Realtemp, CPU-Z and Prime95 running. The CPU seems stable at 3.8GHz (Prime95'ed for an hour and a half) with a x19 multiplyer and 200MHz bus speed. CPU-Z is telling me that my core Votage is 1.264V (even thought I set it as 1.3V in the Bios) and I also set my VTT/QPI at 1.24V. Turbo Boost, C1E and EIST are disabled. Max temps according to Realtemp are 67/64/62/63 while running Prime95 and 39/36/36/34 while at idle. Does all this seems ok? Are there any changes that could be made? Any helps guys will be great, cheers.

Looks good to me. Mine is at 3.6GHz but have left speedstep on, so the volts and speed drops to save power when idle / light use.

Yeah looks pretty good. Was it quite warm in the room at the time? I would have expected slightly lower temps from the Noctua at that voltage. Does it go up from 1.264 on load as that might explain it...?

If he didn't turn Load Line Calibration on there is virtually no way volts would go higher under load :)

Temps aren't the best though, you have a nice case which should cool your components quite well, Noctua makes one of the best air-coolers, something is not quite right to me. I'd say a thermal paste, I had mine at higher volts and temps weren't passing through 60*C at all. And Prime95 never burned up a CPU as much as IntelBurnTest did.

The PC is going to be maily used for Flight Simulator X and probably when I can afford a new GPU, more gaming. So gaming and general use.

To be honest I'm not sure what the room temp was but my bedroom does get warm. I've started to open my windows and also turn my radiator down.

Hmmm I'll try re-sit the cooler. I'm using Arctic Cooling's MX-3 compound. Is it best to use the stuff supplied with the noctua and also whats the best method to applying it?

Cheers lads
