Hey guys

I just put together an i5 750 , gigabyte P55M-UD2 mb, kingston 4gb , 5850 system , very happy with it.

I came across this YouTube video ..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekQG_qonjvo

Overclocking is pretty straightforward, but could not set my CPU to overclock and behave as shown, the turbo and underclocking (Speedstep) does not work once overclocked.

Any ideas ? ... Cheers

turbo and underclocking (Speedstep) does not work once overclocked.

Can't comment too much on the video. On my rig CPU-Z doesn't update that fast/at all in response to multi and speed changes but I see the multi/speed changes in Tmonitor which also shows Turbo kicking off.

To get Turbo and Speedstep on when overclocking you need to set the multi to automatic.

:)

yup it's possible but it only really works when clocking with specific mobos and settings. I've not tried to make it work myself...166 bclk is not that aggressive and unless you are concerned about the power bills a normal 200 or 210 x20 bclk is fine.

In other words, in my opinion disabling turbo boost and going for a normal 24/7 clock across all cores is best.

I tried bclk to 166 and set multi to automatic plus many other settings and gave up after long while, for now.

Maybe the someone with the same MBoard could chime in.

I have pretty much the youtubed arrangement on my rig actually.

Except I'm using 160MHz for 1600MHz memory.

Can't be bothered with high overclocking for the long term, post the benchmarks of what it can do then use practically standard settings for real use.

Less noise/heat/energy usage/chance of system errors [for the win] there's always a cost to drive hardware faster.

High 24/7 OC best left to those that feel they need it :)

didnt watch the vid, but i have a similar mobo to you and if you want C-states and turbo working you need to set vcore to normal and use the +/- voltage option - a static volatage setting disables the c-states. LLC can be on or off iirc.
