i5 760 price

Not by much. Older CPUs can actually increase in price. Try and buy a brand new Core 2 Quad and see! As a socket becomes eol so do the CPUs - there isn't usually enough in the channel to cause a fire sale :D

hmm, iv not completed my build yet just need the cpu now but ive gotta admit im severely tempted to ditch the UD2H H55 and go sandy bridge, pity i havent got access to the members market.

arghhhh i want sandy bridge :( the 2400 is perfect for me and and its £8 cheaper.

what to do :/

Check out some benches when they are more widely available. I don't think the 2400 is much faster than a 760, if any. You know the 2400 isn't an "overclocking" chip right? On the K series owners get to tinker with the clock speed. And you'll need a more expensive board to allow overclocking. I say get yourself an i5 760 (maybe from the bay?) and clock the nuts off it :)

The i5 760 has actually gone up in price considerably. I got one just before Christmas for £30 less than they are now. This is also one of the more expensive places to get them.

yer overclocking isnt really of interest so thought the 2400 would suffice.

i cant find the 760 cheaper anywhere else? saw the 750 for £99 at the purple shirt shop but that seems discontinued now.

i mustnt be looking in the right places?

If you aren't overclocking the fair enough. If you sell your Gigabyte board you'll lose out maybe 30% on what you paid :( Luckily they aren't too expensive to begin with.
