i5 760 upgrade

I'm getting the itch again to upgrade (cpu, ram, board)

Current rig;
i5 760@4ghz
Arctic air cooler
Gigabyte P55-UD5 board
Kingston HyperX 8gb
Crucial M4 128GB SSD (plus 3 1TB drives & a velociraptor)
780 Ti
Xonar Essense ST
Fractal case
Corsair TX850 PSU

Should I try and find a cheap i5 2500k bundle (cpu, board, ram) for ~£150 or maybe a bit less or get an ivy bridge / something else?

To be honest I have no idea if an upgrade would be worth it but would like to sell my current parts and move on before they are worthless

edit - could this be moved to general hardware. Sorry, didn't notice I was in the CPU section

I would try and get a 2600k whence overclocked is up there with a 4790k at 1/3 cost.

You don't need new ram that rams fine even for haswell and Z97.

760 @4ghz to 2500k isn't worth it unless the 2500k and board are cheap like £100-£120 for both.

A 760 @ 4ghz = as good as a stock speed 2500k maybe a tiny bit better until you overclock the 2500k.

Still rocking my i5 750 @ 4.1 ghz here I dabbled with haswell and Z97 and nothing felt any different albeit had a pentium k didn't even notice the sata 2 to 3 SSD speed jump from 280 mb sec to 450-480.

Secondhand 2600k is defo the holy grail bang for buck secondhand wise.

1156 motherboards are definitely not worthless they are hard to find so go for good money and neither is ddr3 8gb of that holds it's price.

The 2500k is still a good CPU so if your on a budget you won't go wrong, or even the 2700k / 2600k.

Cheers. The memory is Kingston Hyper X Genesis. black stuff
On the module it says KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX

I would probably try and get a pre clocked i5 2500/2600 with memory, board and cooler for ~£150 or a bit over, then just sell my current bundle as it is

Do new boards have a PCI slot still? I need one for my Xonar Essense ST

2500k platform isn't new some will have a pci slot some might not you'll have to make sure.

you will notice 0 difference going to SB from Lynnfield - infact its doubtful in gaming if you`ll notice getting HW tbh.

what games does your cpu struggle in? eg its a 100% when your video card is not flat out?
