Simple question,

Upgrading from my system in sig, which would you recommend as an upgrade for a purely gaming and web-browsing system?

I am trying to build the system as cheap as possible but will go for 8700 if people feel it's worth it.

So far,

Asus Prime z370 - £109
Corsair 16gb 3200 MHz £197

i5 8400 £161

or

i7 8700 £289

£467 vs £595

Gaming @ 3440x1440p

Thank you.

8400 is not far behind a 8700 at 1080p never mind your high rez, this with a 1080ti. Save the cash and go for the best bang for buck.

Ive seen an 8700k for £287 and that comes with 2 free games that could be sold. AC Origins and Total War 2.

The Core i5 8400 is possibly better value at £160ish,but that Core i7 8700K is a very good deal, especially since you are locked already into using a Z series motherboard and can sell the games.
