Hi there.
I'm in the middle of upgrading my rig. I've been forced to due to faulty/dead components. I finally did what I should have done in the start and that is buy a cpu, mobo, ram and cooler from overclockers.

For a start this is a budget gaming rig. No high end stuff. (Because that's what I do. Buy budget, unlock anything that can be and oc the arse out of it. It's my hobby)
I got a core i5 9600k as the cpu. Now before you amd fan boys get on at me, I got the intel chip for fast individual cores. I'm using it for games and emulators that need the fastest single cores you can get.

Anyway. This cpu I've ordered. I have a couple of questions.

Is there any way to turn off hyper threading on it? It's set at 6 cores, 12 threads. I want 6 cores, 6 threads. I want to maximize the speed of those cores as much as possible.

What's a decent every day oc for that cpu? For example, can it hit 5ghz using the multiplier and a small vcore boost and run like that day in day out?

9600 doesn't have HT, it's 6c/6t
Youd probably get 4.5 at best, maybe 4.6 or 4.7 if you have got a decent chip.

You're right. It is 6 cores, 6 threads. I must have misread the specs.

The 9600k already boosts to 4.9ghz single core at stock settings. 4.6ghz boost across 6 cores. That's why I said 5ghz across 6 cores. That would seem like a mild overclock for it.
