Hi,

You guys about three years ago provided me with advice on a great solid long lasting Q6600 overclocked build. The time feels right now for me to upgrade.

I'm looking to go Core i5-2500k @ 4.4ghz

I copied the build from a OCuK overclocked bundle. Do you guys think this is a good option or would you change anything and briefly why. I don't know too much about the current technology. Would consider out-of-box water cooling, just for the fun of it.

Also can you confirm I'll have no troubles with my current Antec P182 Super Midi Tower Case and Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU.
I'm running a GTX 470.

COMPONENTS:
Gigabyte Z68X-UD4 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £169.99

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor £161.99

Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/4GX) £39.98

Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £24.98

Sub Total : £330.79
Total : £409.55

Thank you in advance for your advice!

The PSU will run that fine, everything looks compatible. Looks fine to me.
I would normally suggest the OEM version of the i5 if you are getting an aftermarket cooler but due to the offers this week it appears the retail version is actually cheaper.

Do you have any thermal paste at home? If not then get something like this.

Ahh thanks for reminding me about the thermal paste!!

I'm so tempted to go 8GB of RAM, to future proof. Is that just completely pointless.

This will be a gaming pc.

As of now, the only game (I think) that even uses more than 4gb of RAM is Metro 2033. Therefore at the moment 4gb is fine. You also have to remember that in the future if you want to add another 4gb (if games have moved onto using 8gb) it is a very easy process as your mobo has 4 RAM slots.
